  • Pool opens Memorial Day Monday

    Pool opens Memorial Day Monday

The annual opening of the pool got pushed back two days this year.

The pool opened to residents and guests on Memorial Day Monday rather than the traditional Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

The two-day delay was because the final day of  lifeguard certification was May 30.

Pool is opens weekends only (June 5-6) until Van Horn School gets out. Pool opens daily June 9.
When pool is open, hours are always noon-8 p.m.
In the late summer the reverse is true. Once Van Horn is back in session, the pool will be open weekends only through Labor Day.

The pool is open daily to adult lap swimmers from 6-8 a.m. For a key to the second gate, go to the office during business hours 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

No lifeguard is on duty for morning lap swimming.

    T-ball in full swing

Residents Tom and Kay Bell have run the spring T-ball league for 40 years.

T-ball is meant to introduce youngsters to team sports in a friendly atmosphere where parents are the coaches and every game ends in a tie.

This season features four teams of 14 players each ranging from 4 to 8 years old. Past seasons have had as many as 12 teams. Games are held 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Harrington Park.

Players are not limited to Park Stockdale residents. If you would like to sign your child up for next year’s season, contact Tom Bell next February: (661) 322-2801, tombell01@aol.com.

Here are some photos of the Blue Dragons by PSCA president Jim Carnal that capture the spirit of the games.
