Thank you so much for all who took the time to decorate their homes. It’s a beautiful tour around the neighborhood.

The home with music that plays in coordination with the lights is 5908 Hesketh Drive. Turn your radio to 99.9 FM.

The home with a beautiful nativity set is 6000 Preston Court.

The number of inflatable decorations has increased,  delighting the children.

These are some of the best homes in the neighborhood as judged by a panel of adult and children residents. Board Vice-President Roxanne Fackler spearheaded the project. Winners each won gift certificates for a dozen Foster’s donuts.

Winners were chosen in five categories: children, creative, electronic, nativity, and traditional. An additional six homes were chosen on merit.

Park Stockdale certainly has the Christmas spirit.

Homes in each of five categories will be posted on this website and homeowners will receive one dozen donuts. The categories are: Nativity, Electronic, Children, Creative and Traditional.

More than two dozen enjoy barbecue

More than two dozen residents braved triple-digit heat to enjoy the end-of-the-season potluck/barbecue around the pool on Sept. 7.

Eli Hamm, PSCA vice president, said, “It was a good time. Everybody had fun.”

Hamm grilled the hot dogs and residents brought side dishes: pasta salad, watermelon, cookies, lemon bars, cupcakes, coffee cake, doughnuts and assorted, pastries.

The pool closed for the season Sept. 8. Adult lap swimming is still available from 6-8 a.m. daily until the pool is covered for winter.

  • Pool to stay open afternoons, season extended

Pool to stay open afternoons, season extended

The Park Stockdale Civic Association Board of Directors voted Monday to keep the pool open on weekday afternoons. This is a change from previous years when the pool traditionally closed weekdays when Wayne Van Horn Elementary School went back in session.

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 14, the pool will be open 4-8 p.m. weekdays. It will be open noon-8 p.m. weekends. The plan hinges on getting lifeguards. The college lifeguards will soon head back and some of the high school lifeguards have afterschool sports. On days there is no lifeguard, a sign will be posted.

Additionally, the season has been extended a week past the traditional Labor Day closing.

A potluck will be held from 4-6:30 Saturday, Sept. 7. (See related story for details.) The pool’s last day of the season will be Sept. 8.
