Park Stockdale is a neighborhood of 578 homes located in beautiful southwest Bakersfield With entrances at Rio Bravo DrIVE and Lennox AveNUE. Park Stockdale is a quiet, mature community with a distinctive character not seen IN the newer housing tracts where it is difficult to tell one house from the next.

Hot dog barbecue/potluck at pool Saturday, Sept. 7
The Park Stockdale Civic Association Board of Directors will host a hot dog barbecue at the pool from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The pool’s last day for the season will be Sept. 8.
Hot dogs, condiments, chips, water and lemonade will be provided.

Pool to stay open afternoons, season extended
The Park Stockdale Civic Association Board of Directors voted Monday to keep the pool open on weekday afternoons. This is a change from previous years when the pool traditionally closed weekdays when Wayne Van Horn Elementary School went back in session.
Starting Wednesday, Aug. 14, the pool will be open 4-8 p.m. weekdays. It will be open noon-8 p.m. weekends. The plan hinges on getting lifeguards. The college lifeguards will soon head back and some of the high school lifeguards have afterschool sports. On days there is no lifeguard, a sign will be posted.
Additionally, the season has been extended a week past the traditional Labor Day closing.
A potluck will be held from 4-6:30 Saturday, Sept. 7. (See related story for details.) The pool’s last day of the season will be Sept. 8.
Pool opens Saturday
The private pool will be open for residents and their guests from noon-8 p.m. May 25-27. It will reopen daily on Friday, May 31, through Aug. 13 and then weekends and holidays through Labor Day.
Residents may invite two guests each with a limit of three accompanying residents with six guests.
The pool is for residents in good standing. If you need to catch up on your dues or need a new key card for entrance, see Ana in the office 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. MWF. She will be working 9-1 Memorial Day. Renters need to bring ID and proof of residency such as a utility bill.
Lap swimming for residents 18 and older is available from 6 to 8 a.m. daily. No lifeguard is on duty.
T-ball 2024
Residents Tom and Kay Bell have run the spring Park Stockdale T-ball league for 44 years.
T-ball is meant to introduce youngsters to team sports in a friendly atmosphere where parents are the coaches and every game ends in a tie.
This season features four teams of 15 players each ranging from 4 to 8 years old. Past seasons have had as many as 12 teams. Games are held 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Harrington Park.

Volunteers needed to uncover pool
Volunteers are requested to help uncover the swimming pool for the summer. Meet at the pool at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 28.
Volunteers should wear old clothes. You will get dirty. And you may get glue on your clothes and hands. An exacto knife and flathead screwdriver would be handy. It takes about two hours to uncover the pool.
The pool will open for the Memorial Day to Labor Day season on Saturday, May 25.
Hiring lifeguards
The Park Stockdale Civic Association is hiring certified lifeguards for the summer season. Applicants must be at least 15 1/2 years old.
The PSCA is planning on offering an in-pool and online certification class.
