Park Stockdale is a neighborhood of 578 homes located in beautiful southwest Bakersfield With entrances at Rio Bravo DrIVE and Lennox AveNUE. Park Stockdale is a quiet, mature community with a distinctive character not seen IN the newer housing tracts where it is difficult to tell one house from the next.
Residents enjoy community amenities including four full-size tennis courts, a five-lane, 75-foot-long swimming pool with diving board, Harrington Park – a private community park/playground, and Frank Weldon Community Hall – the neighborhood community center. Safety and security meeting
Five representatives from the Bakersfield Police Department gave a presentation on neighborhood safety and security issues Wednesday morning in the hall.
Bakersfield Police Department Community Relations Specialists Noemi Bachman and Darian Hensen-Garcia shared ways to increase security in our neighborhood.
Bakersfield Police Department Officers Delfin and Dickson and Senior Officer Marquez answered many questions from a vocal group of residents.
Noemi reminded residents to always make sure you take everything out of your car so that no one wants to break into your vehicle.
Darian said it’s a lot more difficult to break into your house if you have everything locked up.
Senior Officer Marquez said thieves have sophisticated devices that are able to capture your garage door opener code. They all confirmed Code Enforcement as our resource for property problems like persons living in trailers or RVs in driveways or the street. For abandoned vehicles on the street, call BPD.

Pickleball Grand Opening
The grand opening for Park Stockdale’s two new pickleball courts will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 27.
Pickleball enthusiast Steve Low will give free lessons.
Philanthropists Low and Dennis Shea paid for the nets, paint, tape and brushes to create the courts on Court 2 of the tennis courts.
Low and PSCA president Jim Carnal volunteered their labor.
Pool opens Memorial Day weekend
Thanks to the 11 volunteers who uncovered the Park Stockdale junior Olympic-size pool on Saturday.
Volunteers were board members Tom Bell, Matt Coleman, Bill Zobel and Jim Carnal, along with Dennis Shea, Sander Strother, John Zobel, Anthony Martinez, Kieran Dowling, Ethan Jones and Andrew Jones. The Jones brothers also teamed up to dispose of the two old concrete umbrella stands that have been replaced.
The pool is being prepped for the summer season and will open on Saturday, May 27.
The private pool will be open for residents and their guests from noon-8 p.m. May 27-29. It will reopen daily on Friday, June 2, through Aug. 13 and then weekends and holidays through Labor Day.
Residents may invite two guests each with a limit of three accompanying residents with six guests.
If you need a key card for entrance, see Sharyn in the office 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. MWF. She will be working Memorial Day. Renters need to bring ID and proof of residency such as a utility bill.
Lap swimming for residents 18 and older is available from 6 to 8 a.m. daily. No lifeguard is on duty.
Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
More than 70 residents enjoyed the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Friday at the pavilion on a cool Spring evening under billowy clouds.
Children squealed with delight as they hopped in the bounce house and took swings at a piñata.
Melissa and Jose Martinez cooked up delicious chicken and beef street tacos. They also set up the bounce house and supervised the piñata activities.
The Park Stockdale Civic Association and Thrivent Financial Services sponsored the family event. Thrivent donated T-shirts to volunteers.
Organizers and volunteers included board members Kiki Contreras, Roxanne Fackler, Ana Flores and Susan Tuttle. Residents Dan Tuttle, Molly Carnal and the Martinez children also pitched in.
The Tuttles donated popsicles for dessert.

The presentation at 205 Rio Bravo Drive is free and open to all Park Stockdale residents.
