Park Stockdale is a neighborhood of 578 homes located in beautiful southwest Bakersfield With entrances at Rio Bravo DrIVE and Lennox AveNUE. Park Stockdale is a quiet, mature community with a distinctive character not seen IN the newer housing tracts where it is difficult to tell one house from the next.
Residents enjoy community amenities including four full-size tennis courts, a five-lane, 75-foot-long swimming pool with diving board, Harrington Park – a private community park/playground, and Frank Weldon Community Hall – the neighborhood community center. Regular neighborhood activities include T-Ball, bi-annual neighborhood-wide yard sales, and seasonal neighborhood events.

Spring yard sale
Park Stockdale will host its semiannual neighborhood yard sale Saturday, April 1.
The yard sales are the first Saturday in April and October.

Recent improvements
Several minor improvements were made to the playground and tennis courts recently.
Board member Matt Coleman installed two baby swings to replace one that went missing and another that was cracked with age.
Former board president Sander Strother and current president Jim Carnal installed two bottom safety bars above the playground bridge to prevent small children from falling through. They also replaced a wind screen on Court 1 and, when it blew off during a recent storm, put it back up.

T-ball sign-ups

Sign-ups for Park Stockdale T-ball will be held from 9 a.m. till noon Saturday, Feb. 25, in the hall, 205 Rio Bravo Drive.
Sign-ups are limited to the first 6o children.
T-ball is for children age 4-8; 4 before Jan. 1, 2024; kindergarten, first and second grade.
There will be four 15-player teams.
Games and practices will be held from 5:45-6:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 2 through May 23.
Cost is $48 for Park Stockdale residents; $50for non-Park Stockdale residents.
This is an introductory league: runs and outs do not count. Parents are encouraged to participate.

Lifeguard class
The North of the River Recreation and Park District is offering a lifeguard certification class from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 1-3.
Participants must be at least 15 1/2 years old.
Cost is $170.
Participants must register by March 24 at any NOR center and complete the online course before the first class.
The Park Stockdale Civic Association is hiring certified lifeguards for the summer season and pays $1 more than minimum wage.

Park Stockdale Civic Association directors and their representatives scoured the neighborhood to determine 11 top decorated Christmas homes. This is a subjective list so if your home is not included, we still thank you for displaying your holiday spirit.
Homes in arrears on dues were not considered for judging.
Directors delivered a coupon for a dozen donuts from Foster’s Donuts to each winner.
