Two lifeguards were honored at the Park Stockdale hamburger and hot dog barbecue at the pool Sept. 10.

More than 70 residents braved threatening clouds to attend the potluck and honor the two young men who rescued a father and son on July 9.

Aeden Thompson and Jason Jones responded immediately when the father yelled for help as he struggled to guide his young son to the side after his first jump off the diving board.

The honorees received letters of commendation and thank you cards from the Board of Directors as well as the applause of grateful residents attending the dinner.

Volunteer Melissa Martinez and board members Kiki Contreras, Roxanne Fackler, Ana Flores, Susan Tuttle, and grill master John Prince put on the barbecue. Thanks to the residents who brought side dishes.
